Former Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist , who is currently the leading Democrat trying to unseat incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott, will bring his campaign to the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches April 14.
Crist, who likes to be known as “the people’s governor,” served in the state’s highest post from 2007-2011.
The noon luncheon will be held at the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center, 601 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach.
Tickets may be ordered as soon as receipt of electronic or standard newsletter. Member tickets: $35; guest tickets ordered by members, $45; applicant tickets, $45 and public tickets, $60. For tickets, call Administrator Wendy Norris: (561) 881-9977. Mail checks to: P.O. Box 14877, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.
In addition to serving as governor, Crist also served at Florida Attorney General, Commissioner of Education and as a State Senator.
In his bid to recapture the governorship as a Democrat, Crist has criticized incumbent Gov. Rick Scott for not pushing harder to accept federal Medicaid funds, which he says could have been used to provide health insurance to nearly one million Floridians. He is also critical of Scott for opposing federal money for high-speed rail and for opposing a hike in the minimum wage.
